WINTER SPORTS and the BLUE, RED, BLACK ratings

Just like resort trails and pistes, activities in our list are rated BLUE, RED & BLACK. We think that's fairly easy to grasp: low risk, medium risk, high risk.

All Snowsport Insurance policies include winter sports cover at the BLUE rating by default. After all, not everybody wants to be covered for dare-devil on-snow activity.

As you will see from the ACTIVITY list below, certain types of winter sports carry a higher rating (this means they are higher risk) than BLUE. For instance you will see that Heli-skiing carries a RED rating and Ski Mountaineering is rated BLACK. You must be sure to choose the correct BLUE, RED, BLACK level for your type of winter sport activity.

You may only require BLUE in order to cover you for your winter sports but for all we know, your other sport is downhill mountainbiking, which is rated BLACK. You should

always choose cover for the highest rating. So, for the above combination, you'd have to choose BLACK. Simple!

NOTE! If an activity appears on the EXCLUDED list, you are not covered to partake in this activity under any circumstances under the terms of this cover.

BLUE

Snowsport Insurance by BASI includes standard winter sports cover by default (you can upgrade for more extreme types of winter sport) but it also includes a huge range of other popular sports or activities. Check the Sports List here.

RED

You'll need this upgrade if you intend to do more radical winter sports such as heli-skiing or wish to do other non-winter sports that carry a higher risk level. Check the Sports List here.

BLACK

Ski mountaineering? Extreme marathon? Downhill mountain biking? This is the level you need if you're intent on doing sports that most folks wouldn't dare tackle. Remember, it's your responsibility to make sure you're carrying the right level of cover to check the Sports List here.
